In the heart of our community lies a beacon of hope and compassion—the local food bank. This vital organization plays a crucial role in addressing hunger and food insecurity among the less fortunate. During the holiday season, our organization hosted a drop off location for food donations and ran several campaigns to local organizations and members within the community to come together and help feed Kitsap County.
The goal was not just to collect canned goods and non-perishables but to create a sense of unity and empathy within the community. The success of this initiative hinged on collaboration. Local businesses and community groups were approached to join hands in this noble cause.
Midway through our collection, it was brought to our attention that there was a flood at the Port Orchard food bank. Our team immediately rounded up all of the donations, and were able to provide them with 195lbs of new inventory, helping refill their shelves with a variety of non-perishable goods. Collections continued, as there is always a growing need for food donations within our community.
After several more weeks running the food drive, our team was informed by the Peninsula Partners that the Bremerton Foodline was also running low on goods. Once again, the Nexus team rounded up the food donations and brought them to the drop off location. With the help of our community, we were able to donate 275lbs of food.
We are thankful for the opportunity to drop off more than 450lbs of food with the help of the local companies and members within our community. We want to say a special thank you to the following companies: Architectural Acoustics, Disney & Associates, Fournier Insurance, Kristy Bass Mortgage Solutions, Milestone Marketing LLC, Nexus Electric, Pape Rentals, Peninsula Partners, Port Orchard Animal Clinic, Port Orchard Plumbing, RV Associates Inc., Wakuwaku Waffles and Washington Plumbing & Drain.
